Set up special unit to identify ‘high-risk’ groups, PKR tells Jais

PETALING JAYA: PKR has urged the Selangor Islamic Religious Department (Jais) to set up a special unit tasked with identifying “high-risk groups” to avoid a repeat of the incident where a bride was detained during her Hindu wedding ceremony for having a Muslim name. 

Party information chief Dr Muhammad Nur Manuty said Jais should be proactive and act early in such cases so as to not cause distress to the parties concerned.
