Umno polls: Umno members hand in nomination papers



KUALA LUMPUR: About half the 318 Umno members who have taken up nomination papers to contest for posts in the supreme council and the three movements have submitted their nomination papers.

A total of 161 forms were returned, including 49 by those contesting for supreme council seats.

Umno executive secretary Datuk Rauf Yusuh said 49 candidates for Youth Exco posts, 37 for Wanita and 27 for Puteri had submitted their nomination papers.

Umno president Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak and his deputy Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin had submitted their papers through their respective political secretaries.

The three incumbent vice presidents - Datuk Seri Dr Zahid Hamidi, Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein and Datuk Seri Shafie Apdal also had their representatives send in the papers.
