India, Malaysia ink 11 MOUs to boost strategic investment, bilateral ties


PUTRAYA: Malaysia and India witnessed the exchange of 11 documents, including Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) spanning various key sectors including on semiconductors, labour issues and security cooperation.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said that both nations will continue to strengthen collaboration in all fields, including trade and investments, semiconductor, digital economy, trade, connectivity and others.

"It is really comprehensive and we believe that we can advance and execute this in a speedy manner with the commitment from both of the governments," he said during a joint-press conference with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi here at the Seri Perdana Complex here on Sunday (Feb 8).

Among them include, the Exchange of Notes (EoN) in the fields of semiconductors, on the cooperation in Vocational Education and Training (TVET), security cooperation as well as on cooperation of healthcare between Malaysia and India.

The two leaders also witnessed the exchange of MoU on the agreement on Audio-Visual Co-production, another on the cooperation on disaster management as well as on the cooperation in combating and preventing corruption.

Both leaders also saw the Exchange of Letters (EoL) on United Nations peacekeeping cooperation; and the submission of the Framework Agreement on International Big Cats Alliance (IBCA).

Aside from that, they also saw the exchange of a Memorandum of Collaboration (MoC) in the field of labour, between India's Employees' State Insurance Cooperation (Esic) and Malaysia's Social Security Organisation (Perkeso).

There is also a submission of the 10th Malaysia-India CEO Forum.

Modi is on a two-day official visit to Malaysia starting Saturday (Feb 7) at Anwar’s invitation, reciprocating the Malaysian leader’s visit to India in August 2024.
