JOHOR BARU: The Pasir Gudang World Kite Festival has made it into the Malaysia Book of Records (MBOR) after receiving participation from 56 countries across the globe.
Johor Mentri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi said the festival's entry into MBOR for the most countries participating in a kite-flying event was a historical milestone and a proud moment for the state.
"This achievement reflects the global appeal of this festival and Johor's strong commitment to hosting a world-class international event.
"This festival is not just about flying kites. We believe this is a celebration of friendship, cultural exchange and creativity that brings people together from all corners of the world.

"We are truly honoured and thrilled to host participants from 56 countries across six continents," he said in his speech during the officiating ceremony of the 28th Pasir Gudang World Kite Festival at Bukit Layang-layang on Saturday (Feb 7) night.
Meanwhile, Malaysian Kite Council president Datuk A. Rahim Nin said the four-day festival is expected to receive over 600,000 visitors this year.
"We have already received closed to 500,000 visitors so far, including about 200,000 from Saturday alone.
"I believe we should be able to reach the target," he told the press when met during the event here.
He said a total of 155 international participants are taking part in the event this year.
