KK mayor named one of two new LHDN board members

PUTRAJAYA: Kota Kinabalu mayor Datuk Seri Dr Sabin Samitah and parliamentary draftsperson Farahana Rabidin have been appointed as members of the Inland Revenue Board of Malaysia (LHDN).

Sarawak state financial secretary Datuk Seri Dr Wan Lizozman Wan Omar has been reappointed to the board for a two-year term, LHDN said in a statement on Friday (Sept 4).

It said the appointments of Sabin, representing the Sabah government, and Farahana, representing the Attorney General's Chambers, took effect on Tuesday (Sept 1).

Wan Lizozman, representing Sarawak, was reappointed for a two-year term from Aug 1 this year to July 31, 2028.

LHDN noted that Sabin had previously led the board as chief executive officer and director-general of Inland Revenue.

He also served as director-general of the National Anti-Financial Crime Centre before his appointment as Kota Kinabalu mayor.

"His vast experience in taxation, financial crime prevention and public administration complements his role in strengthening the direction and governance of LHDN," it said.

It also expressed confidence that Farahana's extensive experience and expertise in the legal field would contribute to strengthening governance, as well as policy and legal considerations in the execution of the board's responsibilities.

"LHDN hopes that the experience and expertise brought forward will strengthen governance and support the board’s continuous efforts in empowering the country's revenue administration," it added. – Bernama
