30-plus diamonds still intact on Kuan Yin statue


GEORGE TOWN: The diamonds on the forehead of the Kuan Yin statue at the Goddess of Mercy Temple in Jalan Masjid Kapitan Keling, which a 35-year-old man tried to steal, are still intact.

Kong Hock Keong board of trustees chairman Datuk Lam Wu Chong said the 30-plus diamonds, set on a metal frame and affixed to the forehead of the statue, could be over 200 years old.
