Man nabbed in JB for indecent exposure towards minors


JOHOR BARU: A man has been arrested in Bandar Baru Uda here for the non-physical sexual assault of two minors.

Johor Baru North OCPD Asst Comm Radin Ramlan Radin Tahan said the 54-year-old suspect was detained in Masai, Pasir Gudang, at 11pm on Wednesday (April 1).

"We received a report from a 33-year-old local man about the incident," he said in a statement on Thursday (April 2).

ACP Radin Ramlan said the complainant claimed the victims were his 12-year-old daughter and 10-year-old niece.

He said the suspect called the girls over while in his car, asked them where the toilet was, and then exposed himself.

ACP Radin Ramlan said a video reportedly showing the suspect in a car and the victims went viral after it was uploaded on the Community Roda Johor Facebook account.

"The suspect has been remanded to assist with the investigation," he said.

The case is being investigated under Section 15(a)(i) of the Sexual Offences Act Against Children Act 2017, which covers non-physical sexual assault or sexual exploitation of a child.

Conviction can result in imprisonment for up to 10 years, a fine of up to RM20,000, or both.
