IN a time of giving and understanding, Malaysia Venture Capital Management Bhd (Mavcap) brought joy and raya cheer to the residents of Yayasan Al Jenderami and the children of Rumah Amal Al-Firdaus and Rumah Amal Kasih Bistari.
Mavcap employees recently visited Yayasan Al Jenderami in Jenderami, Putrajaya to join the residents for a breaking of fast.
During the visit, Mavcap chairman Tan Sri Dr Abdul Samad Alias presented a cash donation to the foundations chairman Datuk Alias Ali.
The company gave away raya goodies to the children while the senior citizens were presented with headscarves (telekung).
“We have been a supporter of Yayasan Al Jenderami and we are committed to making positive contributions to this community. We are also glad for the opportunity to spend time with the children and senior citizens and break fast together,” said Abdul Samad.
Started in 2003, Yayasan Al Jenderami cares for orphaned children and the elderly. The foundation has established an Islamic community based in Putrajaya, with housing facilities as well as educational programmes for its residents.
The foundation is dedicated to providing comprehensive knowledge on theology and Islam, the community has daily religious lessons such as teaching Jawi and Quran recitation and also has a mosque. The foundation also provides free health screenings for its residents with equipment donated by the Ministry of Health.
The community is currently home to 125 senior citizens and 21 children.
Mavcap also brought joy to the children of Rumah Amal Al-Firdaus and Rumah Amal Kasih Bestari, treating them to a shopping trip for Raya items.
Fifty children went to Plaza Shah Alam with Mavcap employees. The children excitedly combed through the wide assortment of clothing at The Reject Shop before moving on to Bata for new shoes.
