PUTRAJAYA: The right to wear the serban (headgear) although not mandatory, is part of Islamic and prophetic teachings, the Federal Court heard yesterday.
Hanifah Maidin, counsel for the three students who were expelled for wearing the headgear, said the Court of Appeal judges were, therefore, wrong in their judgment when they decided that the respondents – SK Serting (Felda) headmistress Fatimah Sihi, Education Ministry secretary-general and the Government – had acted entirely in accordance with the Federal Constitution when they expelled his clients.
