KL 'using Singapore formula'

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia’s proposal to sell raw water to Singapore at RM6.25 per 1,000 gallons, a price 200 times higher than the original three sen, is derived from Singapore’s own suggested formula that “would stand the test of time.” 

The NEAC booklet said Singapore Prime Minister Goh Chok Tong himself proposed pegging the price of treated water for Johor to an agreed percentage of Singapore’s cost of alternative sources of water, a pricing mechanism that could stand the test of time.
