> Girl, 7, drowns in hotel swimming pool

A seven-year-old girl has reportedly drown in the swimming pool of a hotel at Batu 6, Jalan Pantai in Port Dickson. The family members of Nurul Alia Husana Zaharuddin found her body at the bottom of the pool after losing sight of her. Earlier, the mother and two of the victim's aunts had brought their children to the pool at around 5.15pm. The three adults left the children, including the victim, by the pool to return to their rented apartment. "While standing at the balcony, one of the aunts realised that the victim was not in the swimming pool," said acting district police chief Deputy Superintendent Zainuddin Ahmad. The adults quickly went to look for the girl but it was too late. The victim was pronounced dead at the emergency room of Hospital Port Dickson. Zainuddin advised parents and caregivers not to leave their children unattended at swimming pools and not to depend solely on the lifeguard to monitor them.
