THE recent landmark Federal Court ruling in June which found two sections of the Pensions Adjustment (Amendment) Act 2013 invalid, while done in the interest of pensioners’ rights, is sparking worry among retirees, especially those with inadequate savings or high personal inflation.

The decision was reached after the court sided with a plaintiff’s claim that the amendments contravened Article 147 of the Federal Constitution, which protects pensioners from losing out due to less favourable changes to the law.
