LEADING a healthy lifestyle is essential, regardless of age.

That emphasis is behind the TARCian Run, which will mark its 10th edition this year since its inception in 2015.

Set to flag off on Nov 15, this year’s event, organised by the Tunku Abdul Rahman University of Management and Technology (TAR UMT) student sports committee, will be officially known as the Setiawangsa-Pantai Expressway (SPE) TARCian Run 2026, with title sponsorship from Lebuhraya Duke Fasa 3 Sdn Bhd.

TAR UMT president Prof Datuk Dr Lee Sze Wei said the run, which aims to bring together 10,000 runners, is open to all TARCians, comprising students, staff and alumni, as well as members of the public and local schools.

“Through this event, we hope to continue promoting an active and healthy lifestyle while strengthening relationships within the TARCian community and beyond,” he said during the SPE TARCian Run 2026 press conference at TAR UMT Arena on the varsity’s Kuala Lumpur campus on Aug 19.

Also present were TAR UMT Alumni Council chairman Datuk Chan Wah Kiang and Step8ight founder Chan Phei Yong.

In his speech, Wah Kiang said that unlike any other running event, the TARCian Run is also a chance for the varsity’s alumni to “come home, reconnect with their alma mater, and make new memories together with the TARCian community”.

“It is our wish that the alumni will come forward, give back, and celebrate the TARCian spirit that brings us together across generations,” he said.

Phei Yong, a TAR UMT alumnus, said he was honoured to be part of the event.

“TAR UMT holds a special place in my heart. To come back and collaborate with my alma mater is a great and exciting moment for me. I am confident that with everyone playing their part, the run will achieve its target of 10,000 participants,” he said.

The SPE TARCian Run 2026 is supported by TAR UMT, TAR UMT Alumni Council, SMJK Chong Hwa Kuala Lumpur, Chong Hwa Independent High School, Step8ight, and other partners and sponsors.
