ADDING another milestone, Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka (UTeM) vice-chancellor Prof Datuk Dr Massila Kamalrudin recently received the Malaysia Education Icon Leadership Award.

The award, presented at the 9th Malaysian Education and Learning Summit 2026 in Kuala Lumpur on April 16, recognises her continued commitment to positioning UTeM as a leading technical and vocational education and training (TVET) public university in Malaysia, the varsity said in a statement.

“Under her leadership, UTeM has achieved educational excellence not only at the national level but also across international borders through strategic collaborations with various institutions.

“At the same time, her leadership strategies have driven UTeM to record its highest student intake, while producing highly skilled graduates who are sought after by employers across global industries,” the statement read.

It added that her achievements also reflect her dedication to advancing the national agenda of empowering women in TVET through initiatives such as the Jelita (Job Empowerment by Learning and Inclusive Technical Advancement) programme.

At the ceremony, Prof Massila received a trophy and a certificate from former chief justice Tun Zaki Tun Azmi, who is currently the chancellor of Multimedia University and MAHSA University.

Organised by the KSI Strategic Institute for Asia Pacific, the summit was held in collaboration with the Malaysian Association of Private Colleges and Universities and the National Association of Private Educational Institutions.
