HOPING to get a head start with his first job, Daniel Francis attended the Mega JobCare Selangor and MyFutureJobs over the two days it was held at Shah Alam Convention Centre.
“I will be graduating soon, so I came looking for potential jobs,” said the 26-year-old who is pursuing an Automotive Engineering degree at Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka.
“I’m open to working in the private or government sector, and in fields such as automotive, manufacturing or energy.”
On his strategy at the fair, Francis said: “The first day was making enquiries, assessing what potential employers need and going home to make preparations.”

On the second day, he submitted resumes and had walk-in interviews, said the Kuala Lumpur resident who attended the event with two friends from Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia who were looking for internship placements.
Students from Kolej Vokasional Sultan Abdul Samad, Banting, also visited the fair in search of internship placements.
“The internship of about six months is compulsory for our diploma in Business Management course,” Putri Qasrina Hamdan, 19, said on behalf of the group.
“Since our diploma is related to office administration, we hope to secure roles in a company’s human resources department.”
Putri Qasrina added that the college chartered two buses to ferry about 80 students to the event.

“We brought our resumes and dressed appropriately, as our lecturers advised us to present ourselves as if we were going for job interviews.”
Selangor Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari, who opened the event, said Mega JobCare Selangor and MyFutureJobs featured close to 150 companies from various industries, with some 11,000 places on offer.
“Some 98% of the jobs are located within Selangor, with the remainder in border states such as Negri Sembilan and Perak.
“Approximately 62% of the jobs offered come with a monthly salary of more than RM3,000,” he said.
The event included resume clinics, career guidance sessions, skills enhancement programmes and various support services for jobseekers.
