A NEW scholarship for students pursuing the Bachelor of Science (Honours) Quantity Surveying programme is now available at Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR).

The merit-and-need-based BBSB-UTAR Scholarship covers full tuition fees, as well as a monthly living allowance and a laptop, ensuring that recipients are able to focus on their studies and professional development, instead of being bogged down by financial worries.

Students actively engaged in co-curricular and competitive activities will be given special consideration in line with the varsity’s mission of nurturing well-rounded graduates equipped to lead and serve in their respective fields.

Aimed at developing future-ready professionals while fostering greater accessibility to quality higher education, the BBSB-UTAR Scholarship, a milestone in championing inclusive education and talent development in Malaysia, was the result of a memorandum of agreement (MoA) between UTAR and BBSB Holdings Sdn Bhd.

The MoA was inked on Aug 11, underscoring the enduring value of industry-academia collaboration, a press release from UTAR read.

Representing the varsity were its president Prof Datuk Dr Ewe Hong Tat, Student Development and Alumni Relations vice president Prof Dr Choong Chee Keong, and Lee Kong Chian Faculty of Engineering and Science dean Prof Dr Yap Wun She, and department of surveying head Dr Felicia Yong Yan Yan.

Representing BBSB Holdings were its managing director Datuk Tan Chin Nyan, operations manager Tan Tze Tung, and human resources manager Ravon Tan.

Expressing his appreciation to BBSB Holdings, Prof Ewe hailed the company’s commitment to promoting higher education.

“This holistic scholarship offers more than just financial support.

“It is a comprehensive investment in a student’s academic journey and personal well-being,” he said.

BBSB’s contribution, added Tan, was guided by a belief in education as a catalyst for progress.

He emphasised the company’s commitment to empowering youth and supporting Malaysia’s built environment sector by investing in future talent.
