Malaysians of all ages will once again be challenged to push the boundaries of human cognition as Mind Competitions returns nationwide in its 2026 edition (see sidebar), offering a total of RM51,000 in cash prizes for outstanding mental performance in memory, calculation and creative thinking.
Jointly organised by the Malaysia Mental Literacy Movement (MMLM) in collaboration with Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR) and Tunku Abdul Rahman University of Management and Technology (TAR UMT), the competitions were launched at a press conference at UTAR Sungai Long Campus on April 24.
Open to participants from preschoolers to senior citizens, Mind Competitions 2026 is one of Malaysia’s most inclusive national platforms for cognitive development.
Participants will compete in three core disciplines, namely, memory, mind mapping and mental calculation, designed to sharpen focus, boost creativity, and strengthen analytical thinking under timed conditions.
Founded by the late Tun Dr Ling Liong Sik, MMLM has been at the forefront of mental literacy development in Malaysia since 2006, championing brain-based learning through competitions, outreach initiatives and the flagship Malaysia Festival of the Mind.
To date, MMLM’s initiatives have reached more than 324,000 participants through its national festival, engaged over 21,000 participants via Mind Competitions, and impacted more than 116,000 individuals through community outreach programmes.
