UP to 30 engineering students from selected institutions will benefit from the recently introduced IAQ Scholarship.

Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR), which is among the institutions to ink a memorandum of agreement (MoA) with IAQ Group to establish the scholarship, will see its students from courses such as Chemical, Electrical and Electronic, Mechanical, and Mechatronics Engineering, being offered the annual financial aid.

Under the MoA, IAQ will sponsor up to RM100,000 per student, covering both tuition fees and living expenses.

Recipients will also benefit from structured internships and potential employment opportunities with IAQ Group, providing practical exposure and professional growth.

The MoA, signed by UTAR president Prof Datuk Dr Ewe Hong Tat and IAQ Group deputy general manager Nelson Tan Wee Keong at the varsity’s Sungai Long Campus on Jan 22, seeks to cultivate Malaysia’s next generation of engineering professionals by providing comprehensive financial and developmental support to deserving students.

Praising the company’s long-term commitment to talent development, industry engagement and educational equity, Prof Ewe said the IAQ Scholarship exemplifies the varsity’s mission to support academically capable students who may be held back by financial limitations.

Tan, noting the company’s journey from a local engineering company to a globally active enterprise with operations spanning Asia, Europe and the United States, emphasised its belief in the value of engineering knowledge as a societal asset and highlighted the company’s commitment to training Malaysian talent for global contribution.

“This scholarship reflects our dedication to nurturing aspiring engineers, not just financially, but also by instilling real-world insights and values that define excellent professionals,” he said, while underscoring the importance of equipping students with both academic foundations and industry-ready capabilities.
