Don't Miss It: StarROAR 2024 contest


Contest period: Aug 1 to 31

> Exciting prizes await participants of the #StarROAR2024 contest by The Star’s Newspaper-in-Education (Star-NiE) programme.

> Eligibility: secondary school students aged 13 to 18 in Malaysia.

> Two modes of entry: individual student or school participation.

> Contest registration: https://forms.gle/FYNQfhtSUCaiHxLJ6 for individual student participation; https://forms.gle/7TBfeGxYrGccATik8 for school participation.

> All participants are required to:

a) Follow @starbrats on Instagram and set their accounts to public;

b) Select a news article about an inspirational person published in The Star newspaper or Star ePaper between July 1 and Aug 31; and

c) Create and post a one-minute reel honouring the person, using #StarROAR2024 and tagging @starbrats. Keep the post public until Sept 30.

> Each student is entitled to only one entry. Winners are chosen based on the content (35%), creativity (35%) and popularity (30%) of their videos. Prizes include Touch ‘n Go Reload Pins for 23 winners.

> Schools must buy 100 copies of The Star (July 1 – Aug 31) to be eligible for prizes in the form of AEON vouchers. The top five schools with the most entries will win.

> All participants will receive a digital certificate of participation.

> The contest aims to promote reading, encourage critical thinking, stimulate creativity and foster respect. Since 1997, Star-NiE has supported English language teaching and learning in schools nationwide.
