PUTRAJAYA: Some 17.5 million foreign tourists have visited Malaysia as of May, putting the country on track for achieving its Visit Malaysia 2026 (VM2026) goals, says Deputy Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister Chiew Choon Man.
He said the ministry will continue carrying out global and domestic promotional programmes through Tourism Malaysia offices to improve international tourist arrivals.

Collaborations will also be carried out with travel agents, key opinion leaders and the media, he added.
"So far, we are still on track to achieving our goals," he told reporters after attending the launch of the VMY vehicle registration number series at the ministry here on Wednesday (June 10).
In light of rising fuel prices and global uncertainty, Chiew said the ministry is working hard to facilitate travel into Malaysia.

"We want to keep the momentum and attract more tourists. We also have several initiatives with airlines and travel agencies to increase inbound flights," he said.
Developments in the Middle East have seen fuel prices rising, leading to several airlines in Asia reviewing fares and operational plans.
Some carriers have also introduced fuel surcharge adjustments.
