Storm warning: Thunderstorms, strong winds expected over 11 states, two FTs until 10pm, says MetMalaysia


KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued a thunderstorm warning, with heavy rain and strong winds forecast in 11 states and the federal territories of Kuala Lumpur and Labuan until 10pm Wednesday (Feb 19).

In a statement Wednesday, MetMalaysia said the areas affected include Perlis, Kedah (Langkawi, Kubang Pasu, Kota Setar, Pokok Sena, Padang Terap, Sik, Baling Kulim and Bandar Baharu), Penang, Perak (Kerian, Larut, Matang and Selama, Hulu Perak, Kuala Kangsar, Manjung, Kinta, Perak Tengah, Kampar and Batang Padang), Kelantan (Jeli and Gua Musang), Terengganu (Hulu Terengganu), Pahang (Cameron Highlands, Lipis, Jerantut, Maran, Kuantan and Bera), Selangor (Petaling and Hulu Langat), and Johor (Kluang, Pontian and Kulai)

In Sarawak, the areas affected are Serian, Samarahan (Simunjan), Sri Aman, Betong (Betong), Sarikei (Pakan and Julau), Sibu, Kapit (Song and Kapit), Bintulu (Tatau), Miri (Beluru, Telang Usan and Marudi) and Limbang while in Sabah, affected areas are Interior (Siptang, Tenom, Kuala Penyu, Beaufort, Nabawan and Keningau), West Coast (Papar, Ranau and Kota Belud.
