Storm warning: Thunderstorms, strong winds expected over eight states, two FTs until 7pm, says MetMalaysia


KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued a thunderstorm warning, with heavy rain and strong winds forecast in eight states and the federal territories of Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya until 7pm Monday (Feb 17).

In a statement Monday, MetMalaysia said the areas affected include Perak (Larut, Matang and Selama, Kuala Kangsar, Kinta, Perak Tengah, Kampar, Batang Padang and Muallim), Pahang (Cameron Highlands, Jerantut, Maran and Rompin), Selangor (Hulu Selangor, Klang, Gombak, Petaling, Kuala Langat, Hulu Langat and Sepang), Negri Sembilan (Jelebu, Seremban, Port Dickson and Rembau), Melaka (Alor Gajah and Central Melaka), and Johor (Segamat, Batu Pahat, Kluang, Mersing, Pontian, Kulai, Kota Tinggi and Johor Baru)

In Sarawak, the areas affected are Serian, Samarahan, Sri Aman, Betong, Sarikei, Sibu (Kanowit), Mukah (Tanjung Manis and Daro) and Kapit (Song) while in Sabah, affected areas are Interior (Nabawan), West Coast (Papar, Putatan, Penampang, Kota Kinabalu and Tuaran), Tawau, Sandakan (Telupid, Kinabatangan, Beluran and Sandakan) and Kudat (Pitas).
