ELECTRONIC billboards around Kuala Lumpur City Centre are so bright that they are causing eye discomfort.
What is worse is when advertisements suddenly flash on the white screens. This is very distracting.
The sudden flashes and bright display are jarring and the problem is worse at night.
Our eyes have to adjust to the sudden change in brightness and this can cause accidents.
The huge billboard at the Jalan Imbi intersection is the worst. It is so bright and imposing that it overshadows the traffic lights at that intersection, especially for motorists coming from Jalan Imbi turning right into Jalan Kampung Pandan.
These billboards are becoming more popular. Many have sprung up around the city centre and Jalan Kelang Lama.
The billboards should be regulated in terms of reducing brightness and sudden flashes. I have written to Kuala Lumpur City Hall but no action has been taken.
The authorities should address this matter and the billboard operators must do their part to care for the well-being of motorists.
