DEEPAVALI celebrations at Pavilion Kuala Lumpur took a fashionable turn with a runway show featuring 30 Malaysian designers reimagining the traditional saree.
The show, held at the mall’s main entrance, was part of its “Journey of Radiance” campaign, which runs until Nov 9.
The launch also featured Akhand Bharat, a cultural performance presented by the High Commission of India in Kuala Lumpur.
Pavilion REIT board member Baljeet Kaur said the celebration reflected efforts to strengthen cultural ties with India.

She said the campaign’s signature colour of pink was an acknowledgement of Pink October, observed as Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
“We are proud to showcase the cultural diversity that makes Malaysia unique and welcoming to visitors from around the world,” she said.
India’s High Commissioner to Malaysia Somnath Ghosh, who attended the launch with his wife Anindita, highlighted the importance of embracing diversity.
“India has 22 official languages. We are a diverse people, but we are one people.
“I hope Malaysia, too, will continue to celebrate its diversity,” he said in his speech.
Somnath also praised the launch for its colourful and vibrant atmosphere.
“I have attended many events in my diplomatic capacity, but have never seen anything like this,” he said.
Visitors to Pavilion Kuala Lumpur can expect various events and promotions in the run-up to Deepavali.

Cultural dance performances will take place at the mall on Nov 1, 7 and 9 at 3pm.
Maybank credit and charge cardholders who spend RM2,500 or more in a single receipt at selected retail and food and beverage outlets can redeem a jewellery trinket box, while those spending RM3,500 or more can redeem a crystal serving plate.
The gifts are redeemable on the day of purchase at the Porte Cochere Concierge or Pavilion Privileges Centre on Level 2.
The top-spending Pavilion Privileges member during the campaign stands to win a 10.33g TSL gold pendant.
Also present were Pavilion Kuala Lumpur chief executive officer Datuk Joyce Yap, Maybank group chief digital officer Datin Kalyani Nair and Malaysian Official Designers Association president Cyrus Chin.
