ZOO Taiping & Night Safari (ZTNS) recorded several new wildlife births between January and June this year as it continued its efforts to strengthen conservation, education and recreation programmes.
Taiping Municipal Council president Mohamed Akmal Dahalan said among the new arrivals were four skunks, 12 milky storks, and one Bawean, Axis and Ubi deer each.
“The births reflect ZTNS’s ongoing efforts in wildlife conservation, breeding and animal management,” he said in a statement.
He said the zoo had also introduced two new electric trams and two vintage buggies to improve visitor experience.
“The new electric trams providing free rides can seat 24 passengers in a single carriage, compared with the previous trams which required two carriages to accommodate up to 29 passengers.
“With the addition of the two new units, ZTNS now has 12 electric trams in operation.
“The vintage buggies offer a more exclusive private tour experience, accommodating up to seven passengers per trip along a 2.5km route around the zoo,” he said.
The vintage buggies service, he said, was available at a promotional rate of RM200 per trip until Dec 31.
ZTNS has also strengthened tourism collaboration with Bukit Merah Laketown Waterpark and Pulau Orang Utan Bukit Merah (POUBM) through a 20% discount campaign.
“Under the campaign, ZTNS ticket holders will receive a 20% discount on admission to both the waterpark and the island while POUBM and the waterpark ticket holders will enjoy the same discount rate for admission to ZTNS.
“The campaign runs until Dec 31,” said Akmal.
He said the collaboration was aimed at encouraging visitors to explore attractions in Taiping and Bukit Merah, and strengthening the tourism ecosystem in Perak.
