KAJANG Municipal Council (MPKj) is preparing a report on a landslide in Jalan Nilam 1 to determine the necessary remedial works, says Kajang assemblyman David Cheong
Speaking after a site visit yesterday, he said MPKj was clearing debris and had placed barriers to stop the public from getting too close to the collapsed retaining wall.
“There is still the risk of further landslips as it has been raining heavily for the past couple of days,” he said.

“Three cars and three motorcycles were damaged during the incident.
“One car sustained minor damage and has been driven away.”
A 5m retaining wall collapsed on Oct 12 following ground movement caused by prolonged heavy rain.
No fatalities or injuries were reported.
Cheong said the wall separated Jalan Nilam 1 from a Hindu temple located uphill, which is undergoing renovation.
“However, people should avoid both sides of the wall, as there are visible cracks and the potential for another landslide.
“MPKj has covered the exposed soil with tarpaulin as a temporary precaution,” he said.
An eyewitness, operations officer Nabihah Ramly, said the wall collapsed between 4.50pm and 5pm.
She said it was raining when she and her colleagues heard a loud noise while preparing to leave their office.
“We ran towards the source of the sound and found that the wall had collapsed,” she said.
Nabihah said the height of the retaining wall was recently increased.
She said it was the newly added section that gave way.
“The original structure appears intact,” she said.
She urged the authorities to act swiftly to prevent further damage and to safeguard workers and residents.
