A TRAFFIC dispersal project involving two new vehicular bridges in Pandan Indah, Selangor, is expected to be completed by September after months of delays.
Ampang Jaya Municipal Council (MPAJ) said the RM9.3mil project at the junction of Jalan Pandan Utama and Jalan Pandan Mewah was 73% complete.
The project, which began in 2024 to ease chronic congestion, was initially scheduled for completion last year.
“Road construction and the installation of the remaining four bridge beams are expected to begin in July,” MPAJ said in a media statement.
The project involves building two bridges across Sungai Kerayong and road upgrading works.
Last year, MPAJ said completion had to be delayed after underground utility and telecommunication cables were discovered at the site.
The local council said the area’s current traffic level of service (LOS) was rated Grade F, and was expected to improve to Grade D upon the project’s completion.
LOS measures traffic conditions on a scale from Grade A (free-flowing) to Grade F (near gridlock), with Grade D indicating stable but high-density traffic.
Meanwhile, MPAJ said RM13.5mil had been allocated under the 2026 Malaysian Road Records Information System (Marris) for infrastructure upgrading works.
The allocation covers 11 road resurfacing projects to be undertaken by Infrasel Sdn Bhd.
The first phase, now underway, involves five locations, including mill-and-pave works and related road improvements along Jalan Melawati 1 and Jalan Melawati 3 in Taman Melawati, as well as resurfacing works in Taman Pinggiran Ukay, Kampung Melayu Ampang and Taman Kosas.
The second phase, scheduled from July to August, will cover six locations including Taman Pandan Mewah, Taman Muda, Taman Pandan Jaya and Lembah Jaya Selatan.
Additionally, MPAJ said six tree-maintenance projects were being carried out under a RM5mil Marris road maintenance allocation, while nine projects for drainage repair and street lamp improvement were in the pipeline.
