Trade council charts direction, key areas for closer ties with China

MCBC has set up five committees to mark the formation of its new board.

The Malaysia-China Business Council (MCBC) hosted a dinner reception and bilateral exchange with China’s ambassador to Malaysia Ouyang Yujing after convening its third board meeting in Kuala Lumpur.

The meeting, led by MCBC chairman Tan Sri Low Kian Chuan, discussed further advancement of bilateral economic and trade cooperation, as well as upcoming key initiatives between Malaysia and China.

During the dinner, Low said MCBC had set up five committees in conjunction with the formation of the new board.

“These committees will focus on key areas, including regional multilateral collaboration, East Coast Rail Link-related industrial development, government-industry policy coordination, and SME, technological and digital supply chains.”

Moving forward, he said MCBC would fully drive its initiatives around these newly defined directions.

Low said that as bilateral relations between Malaysia and China continued to deepen, MCBC would fully leverage its role as a bridge and a bond.

The successful convening of the third board meeting laid a solid foundation for upcoming operations, while the exchange with the Chinese embassy delegation further enhanced cooperation between both sides.

Embassy dignitaries present at the reception included minister counsellors Sun Shuqiang and Wang Jiarong, counsellor Li Zhenxing, director Yang Guowei and first secretary Zang Wenbo.
