THE long-abandoned M101 Skywheel project in Kuala Lumpur has been revived as KL360, featuring a 60-storey tower comprising 785 serviced apartments, 221 office suites, retail space and 40 lifestyle facilities.

The project next to the Raja Uda MRT Station marked the restoration of confidence and trust after years of delay, Housing and Local Government Minister Nga Kor Ming said at the groundbreaking and grand launch ceremony.

GD Properties, which stepped in as the white knight developer, is working with receiver Deloitte Malaysia to revive the stalled project, which had affected 337 buyers with sales worth more than RM306mil.

GD Properties group executive chairman Datuk Wong Seng Tong said the company saw an opportunity to transform the site, once seen as a failure, into a new city landmark.

The project will feature a sky deck, Malaysia’s first sky glass slide and a cliff pool, with China State Construction Engineering (M) Sdn Bhd (CSCEC Malaysia) as the main contractor.
