Johor Baru Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry (JBCCCI) will host 200 golfers at its 13th international golf tournament which aims to foster business networking and sportsmanship.
Chamber president Datuk Jeffrey Lai Jiun Jye said the JBCCCI Golf Tournament, to be held at Forest City on Sept 27, had attracted participants from Singapore, Indonesia and even China.
“Apart from locals, participants from China and neighbouring countries have played in previous tournaments and we expect to see more of them joining us this year.
“In fact, some of the first few who signed up for the event are international participants,” he said.
“We had about 100 to 120 participants in our previous editions. This year, we expect to double that number.”
Speaking at press conference at Johor South Chinese Press clubhouse in Johor Baru, Lai said the golf tournament also served as a platform for businesses to get to know each other.
“In today’s dynamic environment, businesses need continuous networking and cross-industry collaboration to thrive.
“JBCCCI has always promoted business initiatives around the principle of connecting through sports.
“Beyond just a competition, we believe this tournament can act as a bridge between businesses, paving the way for more collaborations.”
Lai added that the golf tournament, which uses the System 36 Stableford format, would be open for entries until Sept 9.
The registration fee is RM800 per participant, which includes an exclusive gift bag with goods valued at RM400, dinner and covering other needs such as caddies.
“We have slots for 50 flights, and 40 of them are already filled with over 160 people registered so far.
“We also have a lucky draw with prizes worth up to RM20,000,” he said.
The 13th JBCCCI Golf Tournament is organised in collaboration with HSBC Bank Malaysia Bhd and Paragon Globe Bhd, with Ampquartz Sdn Bhd as one of its sponsors.
