Food lovers were seen swirling full-bodied wines and enjoying gourmet snacks at the “Discover Spain” pop-up event organised by Spanish Celler.
The two-day event at The Square in Jaya One, Petaling Jaya, showcased some of Spain’s premium products, including award-winning extra virgin olive oil from Almazaras de la Subbetica.
Spanish Cellar founder Victor E. DeJesus said the event allowed locals to savour Spanish wines, cheese, condiments, ham and other products from different parts of the country.
“Here, visitors can learn more about Spanish products through free samples.
“We also showcased Rincón de la Subbetica, which was ranked as the world’s best organic extra virgin olive oil in 2024 and 2025,” he said.
According to DeJesus, Spain produces 40% to 50% of the world’s extra virgin olive oil.
There was a selection of red, white and rosé wines too alongside sherry, vermouth and Spanish-inspired cocktails, in addition to brandy and liqueur.
The wines were from acclaimed Spanish producers and regions, including names such as Bodegas Luis Cañas, Bodegas Ontañón, Bodegas Alceño, Costers del Priorat, Dominio de Queirón and Avgvstvs Forvm.
The range represented wine regions like Rioja, Jumilla, Priorat and Penedès, with styles ranging from expressive Monastrell and Tempranillo wines to Garnacha blends, Mediterranean whites and distinctive regional specialities.
Artisan cheese, Marcona and Valencia almonds, premium olive oil, specialty vinegar, dry goods and premium canned seafood were also among the Spanish products at the event.
Cheese lovers were treated to a diverse showcase of Spanish cheese, ranging from familiar favourites to more unusual regional varieties such as Manchego and Galician cheese.
The Manchego cheese varieties available for trying at the event included truffle, black garlic, black olives, boletus mushrooms, rosemary and Spanish paprika.
