Chenderoh community college bags 14 medals at international culinary challenge


KOLEJ Komuniti Chenderoh, Perak (KKCP) clinched 14 awards at a culinary competition in Vietnam that attracted participants from Japan, Singapore, Thailand, Taiwan and Australia.

Perak Culinary Arts Academy (PCAA) director Meor M. Sharifuddin Meor Shukri said the college’s success at the 11th Vietnam Culinary Challenge (VCC) proved Malaysia as a formidable competitor.

“This achievement embodies PCAA@KKCP’s core principal, ‘Excellence Without Compromise’.

“It not only brings honour to the institution but also reinforces the country’s reputation as a centre for culinary excellence in South-East Asia and globally,” he said in a statement reported by Bernama.

The team comprised lecturers Khairul Ashikhin Mohd Kamil, 46, and Muhammad Syafiq Jamaluddin, 35, and students Muhammad Amar Mohd Salim, Umar Ridha Nirul Azwan and Muhammad Amzar Asrol, aged 20 to 25.

They obtained four gold, four silver and five bronze medals, as well as a diploma, in various categories such as Asian-Inspired Noodles, Chinese Cuisine and Individual Fruit and Vegetable Display.

Meanwhile, PCAA@KKCP in a post on its Facebook page said the wins reflected the team’s high level of commitment and dedication.

It added that they served as proof that the academy excelled at producing world-class technical and vocational education and training (TVET) talent.

This year’s VCC, held at Saigon Exhibition and Convention Centre in Ho Chi Minh City, attracted 203 participants and 401 entries from 19 provinces and cities across Vietnam as well as international participants.
