Tanjung Malim NGO calls for assistance

Tanjung Malim Community Volunteers and Welfare Team has called on more locals to do their part to help those in need, especially the elderly and disabled.

Its founder Yee Jee Kwong said this after the non-governmental organisation (NGO) visited about 50 needy people in the district in Perak.

“Some folk do not have money to buy daily necessities, while many need transport to get to hospital or a governmental agency,” he said when contacted.

“There are also those who need help writing referral letters or filling up forms to seek aid, especially from the Social Welfare Department, or lodge complaints with local authorities,” said Yee.

Yee said the assistance offered by his team included helping these individuals make appointments.

“We use our own vehicles and accompany them to help resolve their issues and to bridge the communication barrier.

“Many cases were referred to us by members.”

During these visits, Yee said they would also present food aid to lessen the burden faced by the needy individuals.
