MP works with bank on insurance coverage for OKU in Lanang

Persons with disabilities (OKU) from Lanang in Sibu, Sarawak, can now secure insurance coverage, thanks to a collaboration between Lanang MP Alice Lau’s P211 service centre and Agro Bank.

Lau said the disabled community had for a long time faced difficulties obtaining insurance coverage.

“Many insurance companies are reluctant to provide policy coverage for them, making it challenging to secure the protection they need.

“As a result, in the event of any unforeseen incident, they are often left to bear the financial burden on their own,” she said at the launch of the programme at her service centre.

The scheme is open to the disabled who are registered voters in Lanang constituency.

Applicants are required to bring their identity card and OKU card to the service centre for registration.

“Under this scheme, beneficiaries will receive coverage not only for natural death, but also for accidental death, funeral expenses, medical expenses, ambulance fees and hospitalisation allowance,” said Lau.

Those who wish to apply may do so during office hours at Lau’s service centre, located at No.2, Lane 82, Jalan Lanang, Sibu.

Also present at the launch was Agro Bank Sibu branch manager Alvina Benjamine Fraklin.
