A POPULAR fast-food chain kicked off its Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration this year at its drive-thru restaurants, starting with Bandar Baru Bangi in Selangor.

There will be 15 events nationwide, with 1,000 McDonald’s Chicken Foldover sets, an apple pie and a drink to be given away.

McDonald’s Malaysia corporate communications director Shamsidar Yahya said giving back to the community for their support was important to the company.

“Every year, McDonald’s Malaysia carries out more than 10,000 community initiatives nationwide.

“During Ramadan we carried out several initiatives, including providing moreh (supper) at 300 mosques and surau nationwide, distributing Ramadan kits to families staying at Rumah Ronald McDonald and organising iftar gatherings for orphaned children,” said Shamsidar.

Also present at the kick-off event were McDonald’s Malaysia managing director and local operating partner Datuk Azmir Jaafar, vice-president and chief development officer Abdul Hamid Ahmad, senior brand director Azman Mohammad and chief marketing officer Chin Mei Lee.
