THE country is experiencing an intense heatwave, with temperatures rising to unusually high levels across several states.

The Malaysian Meteorological Department has issued warnings in several areas, urging people to stay hydrated and limit outdoor activities.

The Health Ministry has also advised the public to drink more than eight glasses of water daily, spend time in shaded areas and wear suitable clothing.

Despite the scorching heat, daily life continues with some adjustments.

Many people going outdoors carry umbrellas and try to stay hydrated, while families take advantage of the school holidays to visit waterfalls and other water-based spots to beat the heat while spending quality time with loved ones.

A number are also taking refuge indoors, relying on fans and air-conditioners to stay cool.
