A TOTAL of 22 poor and hardcore poor individuals in Perak received motorcycles via the Sejahtera Madani initiative, facilitating mobility and work.

It was organised by the Perak State Development Office under the Perak branch of the Implementation Coordination Unit of the Prime Minister’s Department (ICU JPM).

Muhammad Kamil Abdul Munim, the political secretary to the Finance Minister, launched the ceremony at the Sungai Tapah Community Hall.

He said the initiative aimed to provide specific equipment to those listed in eKasih (the national poverty database) based on ICU JPM’s assessment of their economic activities and current needs, reported Bernama.

“Some of them already have jobs or run small businesses, but lack personal transport.

“Therefore, we have assisted them with personal vehicles to help them sustain their livelihoods,” he said.

Muhammad Kamil said the motorcycle distribution initiative was the first of its kind in Perak.

He added that the government continuously monitored the needs of the rakyat.

Sejahtera Madani integrates various aid interventions across ministries, agencies and the private sector to eradicate poverty in a holistic manner.
