Over 80 volunteers from PNB Merdeka Ventures Sdn Bhd (PNBMV) and Permodalan Nasional Bhd (PNB) joined residents from surrounding public housing to prepare and distribute bubur lambuk at Stadium Merdeka, Kuala Lumpur.

Held steps away from Masjid Al-Sultan Abdullah, the third annual “Bubur Lambuk Bersama Komuniti di Merdeka 118” saw 800 packs handed out to residents from nearby communities and visitors to the Merdeka 118 precinct.

PNBMV chief executive officer Datuk Izwan Ibrahim said the initiative was a way to share a beloved Malaysian tradition while strengthening ties with neighbours.

“This tradition, held annually since 2024, reflects our commitment to honour the area’s social and cultural fabric.

“Being on the ground also gives me the opportunity to meet our neighbours.

“Stadium Merdeka has always been a place that brings people together, and we are glad to play our part through meaningful activities,” he said in a statement.

Meanwhile, Seri Sarawak public housing (PA) Residents Association chairman Mohd Azmi Zakaria said, “Every Ramadan, residents here look forward to the bubur lambuk cooking experience and distribution.

“For many families, it is something to bring home to break fast. It makes a difference, and is genuinely appreciated.”

The programme was part of PNBMV’s broader community engagement efforts in and around the Merdeka 118 precinct, supporting initiatives that bring communities together, strengthen neighbourhood ties and create shared value over the long term.

During Ramadan, various activities and bazaars took place at Stadium Merdeka, while Masjid Al-Sultan Abdullah ran iftar programmes, creating a vibrant community hub.

In 2024, 450 packs were distributed to local residents of PA Seri Sarawak, PA Jalan Hang Tuah, PA Loke Yew and PA Seri Selangor.

Last year, volunteers handed out 600 packs, marking the first time it was held at Stadium Merdeka.
