A VISIT to the Ayer Hitam Ramadan bazaar in Johor to distribute dates was a warm affair for Ayer Hitam MP Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong.

Dr Wee said he distributed the boxes of dates at the bazaar and Arena Warna, a hub for small and medium-sized enterprises, in conjunction with the fasting month.

“The dates were given to traders and visitors at both locations, where there was a wide variety of food and items on sale.

“The atmosphere was warm and lively,” he said in a social media post.

Dr Wee also tried his hand at frying noodles at one of the stalls during the visit.

The MCA president was accompanied by Johor health and environment committee chairman Ling Tian Soon, who is also Yong Peng assemblyman.

Dr Wee has also allocated funds to Muslim clerics in his constituency to help them organise community activities during Ramadan.

Stating that there are 29 mosques and 88 surau within the Ayer Hitam parliamentary constituency, he said: “This year marks my 22nd year fulfilling my responsibility as MP in channelling allocations to mosques and surau.”

He hopes that such Ramadan programmes will benefit the community.

Separately, Dr Wee also attended a break of fast event and presentation of the state government’s “Bantuan Kasih Johor” aid in Semarang together with Ling and Semarang assemblyman Datuk Samsolbari Jamali.

“We hope the aid will ease the burdens of those in need.

“Thank you to Johor government, led by Mentri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi, for always being concerned about the welfare of the people,” Dr Wee added.
