SUBLETTING of Ramadan bazaar stalls is strictly prohibited, says Sandrea Ng.

The Perak local government committee chairman said Ipoh City Council (MBI) was taking the issue seriously.

“A strict prohibition against subletting is included in the Ramadan bazaar stall rental conditions.

“If such practices are proven, enforcement action can be taken, including cancellation of their licences,” Ng said when contacted.

“The city council also monitored the stall balloting process conducted by organisers to ensure transparency and minimise the risk of manipulation.”

She said MBI had maintained its Ramadan bazaar rates at RM1,000 per lot for the gold package and RM800 per lot for the silver package.

“Silver refers to bazaar sites with fewer than 100 stalls, while the gold package is for those with more than 100 stalls.”

She said the two categories were introduced to better manage trader distribution and crowd concentration.

Ng added that the rates are bundled packages covering licence fee, tent set-up, cleaning services and organiser’s management costs.

“It is therefore not a licence-only charge but a full operational package,” she said, adding that the charges were set based on actual management and operational costs.
