A MALL in Kuala Lumpur kicks off its month-long Chinese New Year celebration themed “Journey to Prosperity” with vibes of red and gold, promotions and activities galore.
The festive programme at Pavilion Kuala Lumpur in Bukit Bintang features cultural showcases, large-scale decorative installations and a series of entertainment events, while supporting the Visit Malaysia 2026 campaign.
The programme was launched by Deputy Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister Chiew Choon Man, together with Tourism Malaysia director-general Mohd Amirul Rizal Abdul Rahim, Pavilion REIT Management Sdn Bhd chief executive officer Datuk Philip Ho and Pavilion Malls chief executive officer Datuk Joyce Yap.
At the launch, Yap said Chinese New Year was a meaningful season, bringing together tenants, partners and the community.
“As we welcome the Year of the Fire Horse – a symbol of strength, drive and new beginnings – we hope it inspires continued growth and positive momentum for our tenants and business partners.”
At the heart of the celebration is the Centre Court’s Prosperity Pavilion featuring eight life-sized fibreglass galloping horses, adorned with specially designed floral patterns.
The installation is complemented by lanterns, traditional motifs and red-and-gold accents, symbolising renewal and good fortune.
Visitors can explore curated cultural showcases by selected tenants, including Yu Yan Tea’s artisanal teas, Gisselle Liu’s Hanfu experience and jewellery display, Vac Hub’s silk embroidery and custom Chinese seal creations, and Venchi’s festive chocolate gift sets, alongside interactive booths celebrating Chinese heritage through modern craftsmanship.
A collaboration with global collectables brand Pop Mart turns the outdoor fountain and main entrance into festive landscapes featuring Pop Mart’s characters set against lanterns and auspicious decor, creating eye-catching displays.
Across the mall, immersive decorations depict familiar Lunar New Year scenes, such as lion dances, families exchanging red packets, calligraphy and children sharing mandarin oranges, reflecting themes of togetherness, blessings and prosperity.
Pavilion KL’s partnership with Astro will see the “Hello KL” meet-and-greet with Hong Kong artistes Louis Koo, Raymond Lam, Jessica Hsuan and Kevin Chu meeting fans this Friday.
Other highlights include Bonia’s grand opening with Thai actor Joong Archen on Jan 30, “Hello KL” with TVB artistes Alice Chan and Tiffany Lau on Jan 31, Nai Snow’s grand opening with Thai actor Mike Angelo on Feb 7, and the gala premiere of Mom Not Again on Feb 9.
At the fountain area, there will be acrobatic lion dance performances on Jan 24 and daily from Feb 16 to 22.
Shoppers can earn festive rewards throughout the period, including ang pow packets with a minimum spend of RM500, movie ticket redemptions at Fashion Avenue, and special gifts for Maybank cardholders.
Members of Pavilion KL Privileges and VIP shoppers will also enjoy exclusive redemptions, including gold coin packets, luggage and limited-edition luxury items for top spenders. — By MEGAT SYAHAR
