EVERY Sunday, Pasar Tani Kota Damansara erupts in a vibrant symphony of sights and sounds, transforming a quiet neighbourhood into a bustling open-air bazaar.
The farmers market in Petaling Jaya, Selangor, draws residents looking for fresh produce and household necessities, while serving as a neighbourhood gathering place.

Traders begin setting up as early as 6am along Jalan Teknologi 3/2, arranging vegetables, fruit, meat, fish, flowers and other goods before the start of the market at 7am.
Established in 2004, the weekly market operates until noon and has become a regular weekend stop for many residents.

The narrow aisles fill quickly as shoppers move between stalls, selecting ingredients for the week or stopping merely to browse the range of goods on offer.

Fresh vegetables and fruit occupy much of the market, alongside fish, meat, flowers and an assortment of household items.

The market is also a meeting point, with neighbours greeting one another and catching up while doing their weekly shopping in a relaxed setting.

For regular patrons, its appeal lies in having a variety of fresh produce and other necessities available within the neighbourhood in one morning.

According to Petaling Jaya City Council corporate communications assistant director Ahmad Iskandar Mohamad Mukhtar, 39 traders currently operate at the market.

More than two decades after it opened, the market remains part of Kota Damansara’s Sunday routine, bringing traders and residents together for purchases and a chinwag.
