Sepang leads in development approvals for Selangor

Ani says there is strong investor interest in Sepang.

Sepang Municipal Council (MPSepang) has issued a total of 470 planning approvals as of Dec 8, says its president Dr Ani Ahmad.

She said MPSepang recorded the highest number of planning approvals in Selangor this year, ahead of Shah Alam and Petaling Jaya city councils.

“We expect this upward trend to continue year on year, as Sepang remains attractive to investors, particularly due to the presence of large-scale developments within the municipality,” she said.

Ani said there was strong investor interest, particularly now that Sepang and Kuala Langat have been included in the state’s Integrated Development Region in South Selangor (Idriss).

The major state-level development initiative aimed to transform southern Selangor into a strategic economic and investment hub.

The goal was to attract high-impact projects and major investors to the region.

“The development direction is also consistent with Sepang’s sustainability vision under the (United Nations’) Sustainable Development Goal 9, which focuses on industry, innovation and infrastructure.

“Among key projects is the Selangor Aero Park, which aims to strengthen the Asean cargo and logistics hub through the manufacturing of aircraft components, as well as maintenance, repair and aerospace technology activities,” she said.

Ani added that the Speed Selangor policy, a state initiative aimed at speeding up and streamlining approval processes, particularly for businesses, investors and development projects, would act as a catalyst.
