THE exploration of colour as a vital emotional and atmospheric force in contemporary painting is on show in Kuala Lumpur.

“The Blessings of Colour” features 11 artists from six countries – Herman Wong and Koh Teng Huat (Malaysia), Subin Muangchan and Maneerat Srikampa (Thailand) M. Myo Kyaw, Mor Mor, Nila Sann and Ye Naing Tun (Myanmar), Dr Remon Samuel (Egypt), Nanang Widjaya (Indonesia) and Natalia Peraita (Spain).

The exhibition is being held at Younie Gallery, No 1, Jalan Telok Batu, Taman Seputeh, 11am to 7pm, until Dec 28. Admission is free, via appointment.

In a statement, the gallery said the timing of the event in December was deliberate.

“While not bound to any religious narrative, ‘The Blessings of Colour’ aligns itself with the broader Christmas season, a period marked by warmth, generosity and reflection.

“The artists’ chromatic intensity echoes these sentiments: radiant hues, luminous contrasts and dynamic compositions that convey uplift, abundance and a sense of shared humanity.

“In this context, the artworks carry the spirit of giving – pieces that can be received, gifted and lived with.”

According to curator Younie Wong, the artists merged colours and techniques, weaving diverse cultures into a single vibrant tapestry.

“From this confluence arises a profound sense of wonder and harmony, flowing outward like a river of goodwill.”
