SUBANG JAYA: Subang Jaya residents now have an additional one-month extension - until Jan 31, 2026 - to submit their objections and constructive feedback on the city council's Draft Local Plan 2035 (Amendment 1).

Subang Jaya City Council (MBSJ) had earlier set Dec 31 as the deadline.

Mayor Datuk Amirul Azizan Abd Rahim told StarMetro the council had agreed to give more time for residents to review the draft.

"We decided on the extension this afternoon," he said after a press conference on Subang Jaya Half Marathon today (Dec 10).

Amirul said he was aware that people want more time to review the applications made in the draft plan.

"I am glad residents are going through the draft plan and want more time to provide feedback, which is what the council wants. Their feedback is crucial to us, and we welcome it,” he said.

On Dec 1, MBSJ launched its Publicity and Public Participation Programme to provide residents with the opportunity to submit constructive proposals or objections to the MBSJ Draft Local Plan 2035 (Amendment 1).

Its deputy mayor Mohd Zulkurnain Che Ali had previously said the report was open for public access from Dec 1 until Dec 31 and could be reviewed at lobby of the MBSJ headquarters between 9am and 4pm.

The draft was also available for viewing at five other locations within the MBSJ administrative area: the MBSJ 3K Complex, the MBSJ Hypermedia Library, the Urban Planning Counter at the MBSJ headquarters, PLANMalaysia Selangor, and the Petaling District and Land Office.

Zulkurnain said the council had received 150 amendment applications, but only 85 were shortlisted for further consideration.

Among the applications received were proposals to change land-use zoning, to change recreational status to commercial and to change residential status to commercial.

"After the publicity period ends, all objections and proposals will be brought to the Local Investigation Committee Meeting, which is expected to take place in April or May. State executive councillor for local government and tourism Datuk Ng Suee Lim will chair the meeting,” said Zulkurnain.
