CONSTRUCTION of the public library in USJ1, Subang Jaya, is expected to start at the end of this year or early next year, after all the necessary land matters and technical processes are completed.
“The USJ1 library’s gazettement process was approved by the state government on June 11, 2026, and I signed the document the same day,” said Selangor Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari.
“We are now awaiting the Department of Survey and Mapping Malaysia to complete the project’s survey process to be handed over to the Selangor Public Library Corporation (PPAS).
“The process of calling for quotation and outlining planning permission are scheduled for September.
“It will take a month or two for the planning permission to be approved before construction can be expected to start.”
Amirudin, who oversees Selangor’s education and human capital development portfolio, said this in reply to Michelle Ng Mei Sze (PH-Subang Jaya), who asked about the status of the USJ1 library during the Selangor State Assembly sitting at Bangunan Dewan Negeri Selangor in Shah Alam.
StarMetro had reported earlier about the USJ1 library being strategic and accessible to low-cost flat residents in the area.
The site, formerly gazetted for Klinik Kesihatan USJ1, was said to be too small a plot.
The land was left vacant until the suggestion to build a public library was brought up.
