A NEW app to help holidaymakers plan their stays in Sabak Bernam, Selangor, has been launched in time for Visit Malaysia 2026 (VM2026).

Developed by Sabak Bernam District Council (MDSB), Jom Sabak Bernam is available for download on Google Play Store.

The app serves as a one-stop platform for travellers to find local attractions, activities and products in the district.

Users may also book accommodation and make payments on the app.

Its launch, held at the state secretariat building in Shah Alam, was attended by various tourism players.

In his speech, state Islamic religious affairs and cultural innovation committee chairman Dr Mohammad Fahmi Ngah said the app was expected to boost tourist arrivals to Sabak Bernam next year.

“This digital application provides comprehensive information on tourist destinations, local products and small industries.

“It is also set to accelerate digitalisation efforts and support the growth of local economy in Sabak Bernam,” he said.

On a related matter, MDSB president Awaluddin Zakaria said the council was in the midst of whitelisting some 150 homestays in the district.

He said more than 50 were whitelisted this year after their operators obtained proper approval from the local authority.

“This is crucial to ensure their operations are regulated and to ensure safety for visitors,” he added.

Separately, an event was held in Putra Heights, Subang Jaya, to mark the Selangor Petty Traders and Hawkers Day.

Attended by Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari, it saw over 200 small and medium entrepreneurs from across the state taking part in a two-day carnival.

There were also various exhibitions, competitions and lucky draws for visitors.

The event also marked a collaboration between Selangor’s investment arm Menteri Besar Incorporated (MBI) and Agro Bank called Agroplats Biaya Plus-i.

Under the initiative, petty traders and hawkers could apply for small loans of up to RM10,000 with zero interest.
