A TOTAL of 45 people have received welfare assistance from Dewan Rakyat Deputy Speaker and Lanang MP Alice Lau.

Lau also presented Minor Rural Project (MRP) grants to four organisations and a church.

The assistance includes educational and medical aid along with benefits for newborns in her Sarawak constituency.

Lau said she hoped recipients felt the warmth and care of the community through the contributions.

She also encouraged more people to show compassion and extend help to those in need, working together to build a caring society.

“Individuals such as dialysis or cancer patients requiring long-term medical treatment can apply for assistance through my service centre on an annual basis,” she said.

In September 2024, she launched the “Welcome, Lanang Newborn!” initiative under the “Program Sayangi Lanang” series.

Via this initiative, babies born on or after Sept 16, 2024, with a biological parent who is a Lanang voter, are eligible for the benefit.

Parents can apply by submitting copies of their identity cards and baby’s birth certificate to P211 Lanang MP Alice Lau’s service centre within 90 days of the child’s birth.

Lau also reminded representatives of organisations that they must submit reports after receiving grants or following the organisation of activities.

This, she said, fostered a culture of transparency and integrity in the use of public funds.

Organisations that fail to submit their reports will be blacklisted by the relevant authorities, resulting in future applications being rejected.

Residents of Lanang who wish to apply for assistance can visit Lau’s service centre at No.2, Lorong Lanang 82, during office hours.
