MPHS targets metal processing operator, heavy vehicles in joint ops

By CY LEE

Heavy vehicle owners and an unauthorised industrial operator came under scrutiny as Hulu Selangor Municipal Council (MPHS) carried out two joint enforcement operations to curb illegal activities and address public safety risks.

The first operation targeted industrial premises in Bestari Jaya suspected of conducting metal processing activities without approval.

The operation involved Hulu Selangor District and Land Office, Selangor Water Management Authority (Luas), Tenaga Nasional Bhd, Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission and the police.

According to an MPHS social media post, TNB disconnected electricity supply to the premises while Luas cut off the water supply and seized a pump believed to have been used to extract groundwater.

The local council enforcement personnel also seized equipment including heavy machinery from the processing area within the compound as well as appliances at the workers’ quarters.

The local council said the same premises had previously been raided in a joint operation with the Environment Department on Feb 26.

MPHS added that it would continue monitoring industrial areas and take firm action against operators running without approval.

In a separate post, the local council said it carried out a joint operation with Road Transport Department (JPJ) and traffic police to address the issue of heavy vehicles parked along public roads in Bukit Sentosa and Bukit Beruntung.

The vehicles were said to have caused obstruction, raising safety concerns for road users.

Five compounds were issued by MPHS enforcement officers under Section 46(1)(g) of Street, Drainage and Building Act 1974, while JPJ officers issued several notices to drivers and vehicle owners.

MPHS reminded heavy vehicle owners to comply with parking regulations and to avoid leaving their vehicles in public areas without permission.
