Johor to finalise Felda settlers’ land titles by year-end

JOHOR aims to complete and hand over all land titles for Federal Land Development Authority (Felda) settlers by the end of this year.

State agriculture, agro-based industry and rural development committee chairman Datuk Zahari Sarip (pic) said 27,429 (99.2%) of titles for main lots had been approved and distributed to the settlers, as of August this year.

“A total of 7,915 recipients from Felda’s second generation have also received residential lot titles, accounting for 76.3% of the 10,363 approved applications.

“For the record, Johor has the second highest number of Felda settlers in the country after Pahang, with 27,642 settlers,” he said in a media statement.

Zahari said the settling of the land titles was the result of close cooperation between the state government, Felda, Johor Land and Mines Office, district land offices and other agencies.

“This is to ensure a smooth process for applications, verification and issuance of land titles long-awaited by Felda settlers.

“These efforts not only provide settlers with legal land ownership but also create opportunities for the second generation of settlers to own their own residential lots.

“This is also to ensure the sustainability of the community settlements in Johor,” he elaborated.

Zahari said the Johor Mentri Besar recently announced allocations in line with efforts to strengthen the well-being of the community.

“A total RM4.62mil has been set aside to implement 10 special initiatives for Felda settlers.

“Additionally, the state government and Felda have also allocated RM18mil for basic infrastructure development of residential lots for Felda’s second generation in Johor.”

The state government, he said, was confident that such initiatives would contribute to the well-being of Felda communities.

“This will in turn strengthen rural community development, in line with the ‘Maju Johor’ agenda.

“The state government is committed to prioritising the welfare of Felda settlers, particularly in the issuance of land titles for both the original settlers and second generation,” Zahari added.
